Re.juve Plants 2,500 Mangrove Seedlings with Seasoldier

In continuing the “Giving Back #GOODforEarth” campaign, PT Sewu Segar Primatama through the Re.juve trademark this September planted 2,500 mangrove seedlings spread across four different locations, namely in Tanjung Pasir – Tangerang, North Sulawesi, Bali and Tegal ( 9/15).

Through the #GOODforEarth value, Re.juve seeks to contribute and sustain the surrounding environmental ecosystem, one of which is through the mangrove conservation program, realizing that humans are very dependent on nature, so what nature has provided, we need to be responsible for preserving it.

The planting of 2,500 mangrove seedlings is the result of donations from the “Giving Back #GOODforEarth” campaign starting from 23 April 2022 to 26 May 2022. Re.juve converts donations of IDR 1,000 for every 435 ml bottle sold from all transactions at all Re.juve outlets in Indonesia. As of now, Re.juve outlets are spread across the Jabodetabek, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Solo, Bali, Malang and Palembang areas.

“We also planted 750 mangrove seedlings in Tanjung Pasir, Tangerang on September 15. There are a total of 2,500 seeds that we planted in four different locations. “#GoodforEarth is our contribution to preserving nature, and is also a very pleasant experience,” said Richard Anthony, CEO and President Director of Re.juve in a written report.

One way to reduce carbon emissions is by planting mangroves. It is hoped that mangrove conservation will not only have an impact on preserving the marine and land environments, sustainable development, but also on climate change.

Mangroves have many benefits, starting from protecting coastal areas from abrasion, habitat for animals and marine biota, food chains, absorbing carbon dioxide (CO2), producing oxygen (O2), and even various economic functions.

“Seasoldier hopes that this activity can be a breakthrough for the wider community to take care of our beloved nature,” said Dinni Septianingrum, Chief Operating Officer of Seasoldier. Dinni added, apart from the local Seasoldier team being present at these four locations, planting mangroves in different locations is also good for increasing awareness and empowering local communities. With the hope that it can be an example for other areas with similar conditions to also be moved to carry out activities like this.

“If calculated, 2,500 seeds can cover an area of around 1 ha which is capable of absorbing 52.85 tons of CO2/ha/year. “Approximately the equivalent of 500 cars in Jakarta for 1 year can be neutralized by 1 hectare of dense mangrove forest,” said Dinni.

“Perhaps Re.juve is still a small company that is still trying to continue its sustainable mission. “However, with this activity, it is hoped that many large and small companies will be increasingly moved to follow good steps in protecting nature,” concluded Richard.

GGF Has a Main Clinical Pathology Specialized Medical Laboratory

Great Giant Foods (GGF) Lampung has Main Clinical Pathology Specialized Medical Laboratory service facilities. The medical laboratory operational permit was issued by the Ministry of Health on July 5 2023.

The ceremonial opening of Laboratory services took place in the GGF Dining Room Training Center marked by the cutting of a tumpeng by People Partner Protein and Plant Based Department Head Movery Ferestian which was given to Dr. Intanri Kurniati Sp.PK as the Person in Charge of the Great Giant Lampung Clinical Pathology Special Medical Laboratory Tuesday, (29 /8).

In his speech, Movery Ferestian explained that the issuance of the operational permit from the Ministry of Health was inseparable from the support of the entire GGF team starting from the licensing process, providing facilities and infrastructure, tools and materials needed by medical laboratories. “Thank you for the support of colleagues from the Legal, General Service, Purchasing, Finance Accounting, Sustainability and HRBP teams so that what we have prepared for this permit has come to fruition,” said Movery.

Furthermore, Movery hopes that the presence of medical laboratory services can support all employee health examination needs in the context of monitoring and coaching the company’s Occupational Health and Safety (K3), employee Medical Check Ups and other required laboratory examinations. By providing the best service in accordance with the vision of becoming a laboratory with the best quality.

Meanwhile, Nana Kuprihatin, Head of the Great Giant Lampung Clinical Laboratory, said that the laboratory owned by GGF is currently the only laboratory in Lampung Province for Primary Class. According to him, since the Covid-19 pandemic, management has wanted to have a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Laboratory, which at that time was really needed to handle Covid-19 in the company.

Currently, PT Great Giant Pineapple (GGP) is trusted by the Indonesian Ministry of Health to provide medical laboratory health services, and for this main class it must come from a verification center, there are many requirements that must be met.

“This laboratory has two functions to support medical diagnosis. There are clinical programs to control infectious diseases and non-communicable diseases. “Infectious diseases caused by viruses or bacteria can be diagnosed with medical support in the form of laboratory examinations,” explained Nana. “Treating non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, kidney disease, high blood pressure, can also be examined using supporting examinations to confirm the diagnosis so that the doctor’s therapy can be better,” he added.

The existence of this medical laboratory is also very necessary to support the production process so that supervision of workers can continue because the work environment is a risky place according to their work.

For example, workers who work in pesticide areas once a year undergo a cholinesterase health check. If the choline level in the blood drops, it means there is an indication of exposure to pesticide chemicals, then the worker will be given treatment and evaluation for three months, if their health is good then they will be recommended to return to work.

“It must be anticipated from the start to prepare a safe work environment so that risks that arise can be reduced. “The need for personal protective equipment (PPE) is necessary to protect workers,” concluded Nana Kupriatin.

PT BMJ Explores Collaboration in Banana Stem Fiber Innovation Development

PT Great Giant Pineapple (GGP), Terbanggi Besar, Central Lampung, welcomed the visiting team of PT Bukit Muria Jaya (BMJ) West Karawang, Friday (25/8).

The arrival of BMJ as a cigarette paper industry company at GGP aims to explore cooperation in developing fiber from banana trees (gedebok, ed) as an innovative product that is being planned and will be developed. The arrival of BMJ management representatives was warmly received by the Director of External Affairs Welly Soegiono accompanied by Corporate Affairs Lampung Subdiv Head Hendri Tanujaya in the Dining Room Training Center of Great Giant Foods (GGF).

In his explanation, David Gunawan as Government & External Relations Manager of BMJ explained that almost every part of the banana tree can be used, starting from the stem, tuber, skin, leaves and heart of the banana. “As science and technology develop, people are starting to innovate by using waste from banana trees for various purposes. “The waste from banana stems can add economic value by being processed into paper making materials,” said David.

Banana stem fiber or banana stems are very suitable to be used as raw material for making paper because they are easy to obtain and easy to make. The paper produced also varies according to texture and thickness which is balanced with the needs of the paper, he added.

He added that the technology used to make paper from banana stems is quite simple, because it only requires a knife, scissors, blender, rolling pin (wooden roller), table (a surface with a clean cloth can be used) and clear plastic. “Banana stems are of course very easy to obtain raw materials. “Banana stems with a thickness of 3cm have a diameter of between 17 and 25cm, and the water can be processed to make paper,” he said.

Meanwhile, Welly Soegiono, explained that banana stems (ares, ed.) are still used as additional animal feed, in this case fattening beef cattle. “What has been done, especially at the Pisang Mas partnership farmers in Tanggamus, is that banana areas are used for additional feed conversion for the beef cattle fattening program. “And the results are quite good, being able to increase the weight of cows,” he explained.

“What if there is a banana stem that has pesticides applied to it, isn’t it dangerous if it is processed into cigarette paper?” Hendri asked during the conversation. In response to this question, David answered that after becoming an innovative product, in this case cigarette paper is of course safe, because there is a process of processing the raw material starting from drying and cleaning until it actually becomes a product that is safe to use.

At the end of the visit, the group had the opportunity to inspect a stretch of banana plantation located in the Estate Plantation Group 1 garden. The overview thoroughly explored all aspects of the plantation, from plant maintenance techniques to sustainable management of natural resources

Present to meet Bambang Hermanto as chief guest of the OJK group, including Head of Finance, Accounting and Tax Ferdy Fu, Corporate Affairs Lampung Subdiv Head Hendri Tanujaya, and Tanggamus Operation Department Head Waliyuddin in the PT GGP guest house meeting room. At the meeting, Tanggamus banana partner farmers were also present.

Ferdy Fu explained about the circular economy that has been running at Great Giant Foods (GGF) so far through PT Great Giant Pineapple and PT Great Giant Livestock (PT GGL) in partnership with farmers and breeders.

Ferdy further said that farmers and breeders have had credit facilities from Bank BRI which are known and documented by GGF, which means there is an agreement between the farmer or breeder and BRI and individually with GGF.

“The problem faced by farmers so far is the availability of fertilizer. “Farmers have difficulty getting fertilizer,” said Ferdy.

As far as the company knows, through cooperatives farmers can obtain fertilizer easily through KUR Agriculture. The KUR program consists of several types, namely micro KUR, retail KUR, small KUR and special KUR.

This business credit is to help farmers with capital in managing gardens or crop land, such as fertilizing, considering that so far the seeds have been provided by PT GGP so that in the production process they can produce quality agricultural products.

For Super Micro KUR facilities without a maximum limit, as long as the quota for each region is still available and the subsequent application requirements are still met. Meanwhile, BRI Micro KUR specifically for agricultural or fisheries businesses can apply for loans up to 4 times with a maximum accumulation of IDR 500 million.

Also discussed at the meeting were the KUR Linkage Program (Executing), KUR Linkage Program (Channelling), and KUR Micro with a maximum credit ceiling of IDR 20 million. People’s Business Credit in the agricultural sector is the government’s effort to advance Indonesia’s agricultural sector.
